Welcome to P-Bass's World

The Hovering Spooks

The Hovering Spooks play psychedelic-post-punk-power-pop-art-rock.  The band members have been an integral part of the Australian indie music scene since the late seventies both as live performers and recording artists. The Spooks have been rapidly building a following at gigs around Sydney and are currently recording an album of new material. The whole band is involved in the songwriting process, and their material is characterised by strong melodic hooks, thought provoking lyrics and catchy 'ear-worm' pop-songs. The members have been friends for almost half a century, and this is reflected in the instinctive and natural way they interact musically.

  • Bruce “Cub” Callaway - Guitar and Vocals
  • Paul Larsen - Drums and Vocals
  • Richard Burgman - Guitar and Vocals
  • Phil Hall - Bass and Vocals

Richard Burgman - Guitar, Vocals

Richard is an ace guitarist who is always in demand. During the golden years of Australian music, he was an important part of three of Australia's most impactful bands: Sunnyboys, The Saints, and Weddings, Parties, Anything.

Bruce 'Cub' Callaway - Guitar, Vocals

In addition to his guitar and vocal skills, Bruce is a prolific songwriter and an in-demand record producer. Bruce has produced records for Ed Keupper, The New Christs and The Triffids, and recently remastered Zoot. He was a member of the Saints in the 'Paralytic Tonight, Dublin Tomorrow' era, and more recently, The Flaming Hands.

Phil Hall - Bass, Vocals & more

Phil has been described as 'The Swiss Army Knife of the Inner West'. Since moving to Sydney in 1979, Phil has been an in-demand bass player and a member of Sardine v, Dropbears, Lime Spiders, Surfing Caesars, John Kennedy's New Originals, Matt Finish, Flaming Hands, and Chris Masuak's Dog Soldier.

Paul Larsen

Laconic. Paul is a man of few words, but when he speaks, everyone listens. Paul is a creative drummer with a sense of post punk swing that has made him drummer of choice The Celibate Rifles, The New Christs, The Aints, Jim Moginie's Family Dog and The Surfing Caesars.
